Spot Trender is an incredibly powerful platform that is completely cloud-based and which allows you to do dynamic pre-testing of commercials to ensure they meet their objectives – and that you meet yours. We’ve featured them before on StartupCatchup and since then they have come a long way! With their data-driven insights you can make informed decisions on advertising decisions from the very initial concept creation right through to post-production.
So what have Spot Trender been up to? Well, did you check out the CNN Republican Debate on November 15th? If you did, you would have seen that Netflix aired a mock political ad of the famous Frank Underwood of House of Cards. With over 5,000 retweets within minutes of airing, it’s safe to say it was a real success and Frank’s still got it! But Spot Trender, being one of the most innovative companies in the market research industry today, took this genius joke even further by testing how the mock ad of Frank Underwood stacked up against ‘rivals’ Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio. Why did they do it? Well, as Rick Nguyen, co-founder of Spot Trender put it, “I was watching the GOP Debate and saw the Underwood ad and loved it. Then I was curious how the mock ad would perform against Bush and Rubio’s. So we did it!” And Rick’s co-founder Christopher South was certainly on board, saying, “It’s interesting to look at the live reaction graph from the HOC ad compared to others. It had a significantly more positive reaction even before they introduced Frank Underwood.” Their findings were documented on their blog which were incredibly interesting!
For instance, turns out that Frank Underwood is quite a bit more ‘Presidential’ when compared to his ‘opponents’. Furthermore, a fascinating insight is that people love seeing children running around with flags – perhaps as it shows patriotism or the fact that they feel a part of their native country. Our favorite insight, however, was that Jeb Bush’s negative ‘opposition attack’ ad didn’t work too well at all, especially when comparing to Frank! Be sure to check them out for detailed insights on how the ad performed and get in touch with the team at Spot Trender for insights into your own advertising campaigns!
